Urban Impact at the YWCA Calgary’s Inglewood Aboriginal Community CelebrationPosted: June 29th, 2012
On June 28th, Urban Impact’s team was at the YWCA of Calgary’s Inglewood Aboriginal Community Celebration to help the event GO GREEN!
This was an event to celebrate the Calgarian community of Inglewood and the surrounding areas with a focus on the traditions of Aboriginal people. The YWCA’s goal is to assist Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities and organizations achieve success through relationship and capacity building. The YWCA has a mandate to develop and nurture ongoing relationships with the Inglewood community. In addition, the YWCA is trying to bring increased awareness of the Aboriginal people within the Canadian population.
The Festivities included lots to do for families, including a resource fair, an Art market featuring Aboriginal art created by local artisans, traditional story telling, hoop dancing and much more! Urban Impact’s Festivals and Events team was on hand to help the event be green and tell people how fun, easy and rewarding it is to recycle and keep waste from going to the landfill!
