How To Sort Your Mixed Containers: Quick Tips

Mixed Containers are banned from the landfill and other waste disposal facilities.  It is very important – both for our environment and for cost management – to recycle properly.

Did you know Urban Impact can help your organization recycle your glass, metal and plastic containers?

Recycling “mixed containers” is an effective way for your organization to minimize the environmental impact of your waste, communicate responsibility to your community and reduce your costs of operations.

Mixed Containers Recycling

Our Mixed Containers program covers the recycling of glass containers, rigid plastic (HDPE, PET & LDPE, PS and PP), aluminum, steel and tin containers. Customers are not required to sort and keep these materials separately. All glass, metals and plastics can be simply placed together.

Here’s a Tip about Plastic Containers from the Recycling Council of British Columbia:

Plastic containers are a petroleum-based material that are used to package goods. Most plastic containers have a resin code, generally found at the bottom of the container. These codes were introduced in 1988 to help recyclers identify the different types of plastics in the waste stream.

Urban Impact accepts all seven types of plastic: plastic bottles, plastic food jars, plastic containers, plastic tubs and milk jugs with a Mobius Loop and code numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. Please check recycling symbols on the bottom of plastic container and rinse & empty them before recycling.
