Ready for Metro Vancouver’s 2015 Organics Ban?

UI_organicsbanIn January, 2015, Metro Vancouver will introduce a ban on the disposal of organic material in its facilities. The ban will apply to both residential and commercial waste.

Of the non-recycled waste disposed of in the region, about one-third is compostable organics, including food waste and food-soiled paper.

What Metro Vancouver’s Organics Disposal Ban Means For Your Business

Once the organics ban is in place you will need to manage your organics differently. Every business in the Metro Vancouver area will need to have an organic recycling program. Your business will be required to separate organic materials from regular garbage. Fines may apply for businesses that fail to adhere to the ban once it is officially in place.
