One of our key goals is get things right the first time round. When you contact us, we want you to feel that we are truly listening and taking good care of you. We listen closely to what our customers have to say.
At Urban Impact, we believe that our employees are our biggest assets. President and CEO Nicole Stefenelli knows most of Urban Impact’s 100 plus employees and moves among them in an easy, informal manner. We’re very proud that Urban Impact was named one of the Top Employers in British Columbia by BC Business magazine. Our team is committed to making a difference by supporting the communities where we work and live.
We believe that Changing the Way we Deal with Waste is a Necessity
We are also dedicated to minimizing waste in the landfills and protecting our environment. We are very proud that in 2010, Urban Impact collected and diverted 100,000 Metric Tonnes of recyclable materials from local landfills.
Urban Impact’s Story
In 1989, Urban Impact began as founder Nicole Stefenelli’s university project. Nicole was seeking to prove that it was viable for commercial businesses to reduce their waste disposal costs and go green. She unequivocally believed that recycling was worth the effort as it conserves natural resources, reduces the amount of waste sent to landfill and saves energy. Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, Nicole’s passion for recycling led her to create Urban Impact to promote green solutions for the recovery and reuse of paper and cardboard. We recently celebrated our 20th birthday. Nicole has been very pleased to see recycling volumes steadily increase over the past 20 years!
From the beginning, Nicole set out to create a different kind of recycling company. Highly committed to investing in people and state-of-the-art technology, Urban Impact’s Materials Processing Plants are located in Richmond and New Westminster, BC. Our Richmond recycling facility is perfectly equipped to supply the different end-users (paper mills) with special paper grades, thanks to the sorting capabilities. In New Westminster, we have shifted to more advanced recycling mechanical sorting technologies that can separate different types of plastic, paper and mixed containers automatically. Urban Impact recently opened an office in Calgary.
Our Hybrid Diesel Electric Collection truck–the first recycling collection and compaction truck in Canada to have an electrically operated Hydraulic pump, makes no noise while it dumps and compacts the paper outside your business. We are very excited to announce that five new hybrid trucks will be joining our fleet.
