On Thursday August 14, BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association of BC) held their annual golf tournament at Northview Golf & Country Club. BOMA members focus on many sustainability efforts in their day-to-day operations. One hundred and forty-four golfers participated including contractors and Property Management groups.
Urban Impact proudly sponsored the refueling and game station at the Hole 1 on the Canal course. The theme this year was “Proudly Canadian”. Urban Impact’s refueling kit included products from Canadian founded, owned & operated companies including:
- Twigz Pretzels - made in Calgary, Aberta
- Hardbite Chips - made in Surrey, British Columbia
- SmartSweets Candies -made in Vancouver, British Columbia
- Clarity Kombucha -made in Vancouver, British Columbia
Par for the course, Urban Impact gave away a Chilly Moose cooler, a Canadian founded company, to the golfer who guessed the correct number of plastic bottle caps in the jar. The goal was to educate golfers on whether, or not, plastic caps should be removed before discarding the container for recycling.
Do you know? The answer is YES; plastic bottle caps can be left on!
Despite the forecast for rain, the weather conditions held steady with only a little rain at the end of the day. An employee of WCP Building Renewal won the guessing- game, just shy of the exact number.
Thank you to all our volunteers and participants. We look forward to this event every year. See you again in 2026!
