Delivering garbage to a Waste to Energy facility is an alternative to sending garbage to landfills.
Waste to Energy facilities receive municipal solid waste or MSW. The material is incinerated, produces energy, usually in the form of steam that is used to generate electricity. In Metro Vancouver, the Waste to Energy generated electricity feeds the River District energy system, which is approximately a 6-kilometer radius to the west of the facility.
Waste to Energy service is ideal for companies who have waste diversion goals and have committed to limiting the amount of waste that goes to the landfill.
