Urban Impact is now accepting applications for our 2026 Community Shred Days. If you’re part of a charity, PAC, or community organization and are looking for a meaningful, community-focused fundraising opportunity, a Shred Day event may be the perfect fit.

Each year, we partner with local charities to host secure shredding events in the communities we serve. These events allow residents to safely destroy sensitive documents. This includes anything from tax papers, personal records, uncashed cheques, credit card statements, or anything in between. And we shred it right before their eyes, all while raising funds for a cause that matters.

Giving back is deeply rooted in the Urban Impact culture. Our community Shred Day program is one of the largest charitable initiatives we support every year.

Important Things You Should Know

Applications are being accepted from now until January 15, 2026. We typically schedule events late spring through early fall. Urban Impact provides:

  • A uniformed, bonded, and security-trained driver
  • A mobile shredding truck with industrial “pierce-and-tear” shredding equipment
  • Certificates of Destruction, available upon request
  • The ability to shred staples, clips, and folders. There’s no need for special preparation

Your organization raises funds by collecting a fixed donation per box (minimum $10 recommended). A single, well-organized could raise several thousand dollars for your cause.

Before you apply, there are some key planning tips. Successful Shred Days require thoughtful preparation.

  • Promotion: Budget and plan to heavily publicize your event.
  • Volunteers: At least four volunteers for traffic flow, unloading vehicles, and collecting donations.
  • Timing: Saturdays between 10 AM – 2 PM work best (avoid long weekends).
  • Location: Choose a highly visible, easily accessible spot.
  • Pricing: Set a fixed per-box donation rate to maximize fundraising impact.

If accepted, Urban Impact will also provide you with a Best Practices Guide to set your team up for success.
