Urban Impact Selected for Recycle BC Partnership

British Columbia’s recycling system is entering an exciting new chapter — and Urban Impact is proud to be part of it.

On April 30, Recycle BC announced a major milestone that will strengthen and modernize recycling across the province. Beginning June 1, 2026, Recycle BC will transition all post‑collection services in‑house, taking full operational oversight of logistics, processing, and end‑market management. This shift marks a transformative step toward a more resilient, efficient, and future‑ready recycling system for communities across BC.

Urban Impact Selected as a Post‑Collection Partner

We are very pleased to share that Urban Impact has been selected to partner with Recycle BC in delivering post‑collection services as part of this new system model. This partnership reflects our long‑standing commitment to innovation, operational excellence, and strong customer relationships.

Investing in the Future of Recycling

Urban Impact’s partnership with Recycle BC officially begins June 1, 2026. To support this next phase, we will be making a significant investment in upgrading our New Westminster Material Recovery Facility (MRF). These enhancements will ensure we meet future operational needs while maintaining the high level of service our customers rely on — with no interruption to service.

Our team remains deeply committed to long‑term success, continuous improvement, and delivering the technology, efficiency, and support required in today’s evolving recycling landscape.

“Urban Impact is excited about the opportunity to build a collaborative partnership with Recycle BC during this important phase of its evolution. We look forward to working together to implement innovative best practices that support a more resilient, efficient, and future‑ready recycling system.” — CEO Nicole Stefenelli

A Seamless, Phased Transition

Recycle BC has emphasized that continuity is the top priority, and Urban Impact shares that commitment. Together, we will work to ensure a smooth, coordinated rollout — including interim processing solutions while the new Delta facility is under development.

This is an important moment for recycling in British Columbia, and we are excited to help shape what comes next.
