When we say our employees go the extra mile we mean it. We’d like to share our wonderful story provided by a customer. Thank you, Tony. We are proud and honored that you are part of our Urban Impact family.
On December 23, 2024, one of our customers was in a huge hurry and accidentally threw away her wallet with all her credit cards and Christmas cash. Tony, who happened to be picking up recycling that day, literally saved Christmas!
Here is the story as told by Christine, our customer at The Lido on Renaissance Square.
“At the same time, I deposited my recycling your recycling truck was in the recycle room, taking out the bins that contain plastics, tins, bottles jars, etc. I was no doubt in a huge rush as this day was an important shopping day before Christmas or me, and not only did I have my credit cards etc. in my wallet but I also had Christmas cash for my family!
Tony waited till I searched my apt, whilst Tony tried to sort through the truck to see if he could retrieve it, it was not to be seen. He advised that when he was finished (with) his run, he would deal with looking for the wallet after dumping the truck and would assist in sorting out to locate it.
Tony then advised that he would phone his “Manager" to explain my dilemma. Minutes later, Tony phoned me and advised that his Manager (obviously very understanding and obviously a very thoughtful and compassionate person) allowed Tony to go to the plant to dump the contents of the truck and sort through the recycling and through joint efforts my wallet was retrieved and Tony delivered it back to me!!!! He would not accept any remuneration and gave me a hug (I was in tears) and he said “just pay it forward”.
Words cannot express how much that meant to me, and I am grateful to you and whomever else assisted, then you will ever know. I will never forget the support and kindness and I will never forget Tony’s compassion and thoughtfulness. This has inspired me to be better at doing good deeds for others."
