This year’s BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association of BC) Golf Tournament was held on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Northview Golf & Country Club.  The event was filled with industry professionals who take care of Metro Vancouver’s building and facilities.  BOMA members focus on many sustainability efforts in their day- to-day operations.

Urban Impact's sponsorship was a refueling station at hole 1 on the Canal course.  Urban Impact offered Organika electrolyte drink mix sachets, CLIF energy bars and PopCorners snack bags and a water dispenser to refill water bottles.

Urban Impact, known for awesome giveaways, gave away bottles of SPF Cream by K’Pure Naturals and a chance to win a Yeti Cooler! Urban Impact chose K'Pure Naturals SPF 30 cream, not only because it is hand-made, cruelty-free, with the strictest attention to quality control, but it is also a local female founded company, just like Urban Impact.

For the chance to win a Yeti cooler, participants had an opportunity to play “Recycling Pong”.

Golfers chose a wiffle ball representing an item to dispose of and then had to chip the wiffle ball into the correct recycling or waste bin. The recyclable waste items included: paper take-out food container, single-use coffee cup, aluminum foil, empty chip bag. Each item had to be matched to the correct recycling bin. Bin choices were: Single Stream, Organics, Waste-To-Energy or Landfill Garbage. Can you guess which items belongs in which bin?  (Answers below)

The intention of the game, besides having fun, was to educate participants on how to best dispose of single-use items and highlighting that Urban Impact has many programs that can divert materials from landfill garbage.

About 144 golfers came through our sponsored hole and all golfers who participated in the Recycling Pong game were entered to a draw for a YETI cooler. The winner was a member of Peterson British Columbia. Congrats!

We sincerely thank BOMA for organizing and including Urban Impact, again, in this fun-filled event. We look forward to next year’s event!
