We are happy to share that the proceeds from our next Shred Day scheduled on Wednesday, April 18th, will be donated to pancreatic cancer research. Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer death in Canada and according to the 2011 Charity Intelligence Canada report, patients diagnosed early only have a 9% survival rate. While other diseases are researching for cures, pancreatic cancer research is still in the midst of diagnostic and detection research.
Last year, Maria Bernardo, one of Urban Impact's staff members, was effected by pancreatic cancer. Her eight year old cousin passed away due to the disease. We have decided to support Maria and her cause to support Pancreatic Cancer Canada as they are the ONLY organization in Canada leading early detection research and treatment options for pancreatic cancer.
